Pelagia Nickoletopoulos named Interim EMSB Director General
English Montreal School Board Chairman Joe Ortona and the Council of Commissioners have appointed Pelagia Nickoletopoulos as Interim Director General.
Ms. Nickoletopoulos has been with the EMSB and its predecessor, the Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal, for 29 years. Since 2015 she has served as a Regional Director. Prior to that she was a school principal, vice-principal and teacher. She has a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the Université de Montréal.
Assistant Director General, Education, Evelyne Alfonsi served as Interim Director General since Ann Marie Matheson resigned last August. Ms. Alfonsi announced on Tuesday that she was returning to her regular duties.
Mr. Ortona thanked Ms. Nickoletopoulos for stepping into this role temporarily. “Our Council only got sworn in a week ago so we have not had sufficient time to review the selection process for a permanent Director General,” said Mr. Ortona. “We hope to do this very soon.”
